Old radios, stereos, tape players and other vintage electronics items are cheap and easy to find and big sellers on eBay
This morning eBay was featuring Retro Radios on the home page. I clicked on the link and it took me to the category listing: Collectibles>Radio Phonograph, TV, Phone > Radios > Tube Radios
I have known for some time that vintage electronics and computers were big sellers on eBay, but I was really shocked to see that some of these radios were selling and had sold at prices in excess of $4,000.
You may not find a $4,000 radio every day, but vintage radios and other electronics are very easy to locate and buy. The single best source is garage sales with thrift shops a close second. If you perform a completed items search for vintage radios or any other electronic product (tape player, stereo, computer, etc.) you will see that there are hundreds of successful listings that sell for prices between $50 and $500. This is the sweet spot and where the bulk of successful listings are found.
It is not hard to buy these items for prices under $50. My son has a complete 1980s vintage Kenwood stereo that he bought from a neighbor’s garage sale for $30. He doesn’t want to sell it but he could easily get a couuple of hundred dollars for it. Last year I sold a 23 year old Bang & Olfson stereo for $700.
Another great way to find vintage electronics is to advertise for them. Simply take out a classified ad that says you buy vintage electronics for cash. You will be amazed at some of the calls you get.
This is just one example of the hundreds of niche markets on eBay. Finding unique markets like this is one of the easiest ways to make money on eBay.
