eBay Puts One and Three Day Listings on Sale Through the Month of January

In more proof that eBay lacks pricing power in the current economy, Dinesh Lathi announced today that eBay would give a 50% discount on 1 and 3 day auctions

Here is the announcement from Dinesh Lathi, VP of Seller Experience

"Starting January 3 through January 31, sellers who list 1 and 3 day Auction-style item(s) and have a 12 month Detailed Seller Rating of 4.5 or higher on all criteria, will receive 50% off Insertion Fees per item listed. New sellers who don’t yet have DSR ratings are also eligible.

Insertion fees for 1 and 3 day Auction-style listings will be 50% off on the U.S. site www.ebay.com and eBay Canada www.ebay.ca as reflected in the fee table below. Please see the ‘What is excluded’ section below for specific category exclusions. For more information on listing durations, click here. Listings created prior to January 3, 2009 which are scheduled to start during the promotional period January 3-31, 2009 will be eligible to receive the promotional rate.

Please Note: For sellers listing with any tool other than the latest version of the Sell Your Item form (SYI 3.0) the promotional price will not be shown during the listing process. Instead the discount will be reflected in the "View Account Status" section in My eBay, as well as in your next invoice.

The promotion also includes eBay Canada. I suspect Europe will be seeing some similar promotions but I have not seen those announcements yet.
