eBay to Amazon, Transition from Selling on eBay to Selling on Amazon

I started selling on eBay in 1999. In 2006 I added Amazon, but it never really worked for me. I had sales, but except for books not that many.
I noticed that the same products I sold on eBay would sit on Amazon for weeks before selling.
Then in 2010, I upgraded to Amazons Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) program. FBA is a program whereby you send your goods into Amazon, and they take care of all the collections, customer service and fulfillment.
It was like someone turned on a switch. Once I started selling on FBA, my Amazon business began to exceed my eBay business. Today I no longer sell on eBay and am focussing on my Amazon business.
Why Should You Sell on Amazon?
Amazon is the largest and fastest growing shopping site on the internet. Amazon doesnt release their exact figures, but conversations I have had with Amazon employees lead me to believe there are just over 600,000 sellers on Amazon US. (I have no idea how many are on the various overseas sites but I suspect it is substantial).
Most of the 600,000 sellers are casual sellers (selling one or two items a month). I estimate there are 50,000 full-time sellers (about the same as on eBay). You may be thinking, How can I compete with 50,000 sellers? Wouldnt that make the site too crowded?
Its funny, but the number of sellers doesnt seem to matter. I know large professional sellers who have been selling on Amazon for over ten years. They tell me their business increases each year, even as the numbers of sellers grow. I have had the same experience.
Should I leave eBay?
No Please dont do that. On some products, eBay can be more profitable. But, it doesnt take much effort to add the Amazon sales channel. More importantly, as I will show you, having your products on Amazon can actually increase your eBay sales and profits.
